Collaborative Communities is a community interest company, we provide information, advice and support, advocacy, peer support, awareness training and guest speakers, decluttering and organising services, for carers and organisations supporting people with hoarding disorder and hoarding-related behaviour in the community.

We work primarily with councils, voluntary organisations and housing associations, we are a verified member of APDO, the UK’s membership association for decluttering and organising professionals. APDO sets standards, provides professional development and supports the growth of the industry.

Information & Advice service

We provide information and advice to individuals, carers, families, and organisations, whether you are just looking for tips on how to manage your acquiring and saving behaviour, family member looking for support in the community or you are an organisation looking for some specialist input and advice on your complex cases. 

With our experienced staff and networks with other voluntary and national organisations who specialise in supporting people with hoarding disorder and hoarding-related behaviour, we will always try to find a solution to your challenges.

Advocacy & Support service

We can act as advocates on complex cases where conventional methods are failing, and cases where there is a concern about their hoarding behaviour needs more time, intervention and prevention work with the individual, family, carer, and other organisations. 

It is important that carers and organisations supporting people with hoarding disorder and hoarding-related behaviour understand the complexities and how important it is to involve organisations that really understand the signs, symptoms, barriers, and behaviours.

Peer Support Group service


We currently run Harrow Hoarders Peer Support Group, the group is co facilitated by service users who are expert by experience, the group supports residents in Harrow with hoarding disorder and hoarding-related behaviour.

Through our peer support group, we provide peer support, buddying, therapeutic and practical support that helps, connect them to our peer support community, also motivates, and empowers people to reconnect with their families, carers, and community services.

We are looking for other councils within London and neighbouring regions that would like our experience and support to help them start up and facilitate a peer support group that is co-designed and co-produced for people with hoarding disorder and hoarding-related behaviour.

Decluttering & Organising your home service

We provide a specialised organising, decluttering, and cleaning service for carers and organisations looking for a specialist organisation that understands the pros and cons in mental health and most importantly working with people with hoarding disorder and hoarding-related behaviour.

Our services are tailored around the person and their home, we do not provide skips as our experience shows this is not the best practice when supporting a person with hoarding behaviour, we take all items away on the day.

This service specifically focuses on supporting the individuals psychological and practical needs whilst challenging their beliefs and behaviours on acquiring and difficulties in discarding items, this service is delivered at their home.

Mental Health Awareness Training for Professionals

We provide Mental Health Awareness training for professionals, practitioners and organisations who manage and support people with hoarding disorder and hoarding-related behaviour in the community.

The training is to raise their level of insight and understanding about this disorder, beliefs and behaviour, barriers, assessment tools, current legislation and powers, the importance and benefits of intervention and collaborative working. The training is now also available via our online video conferencing platforms and webinars. 

If you are a small team or part of a wider network, the training will be tailor made to the type of services, you deliver within the community.
